본 연구는 PISA 2006 이후 과학적 소양 성취도 수준의 변화 추이를 구체적으로 살펴보는 데 목적을 두었다 . 이를 위해 PISA 2006 과학적 소양 공개문항 6 개로 구성된 검사지를 개발하였으며 2008 년 전국 인문계 고등학교 41 개교 1 학년 1,409 명을 대상으로 실시하였고 , 그 결과를 PISA 2006 과학적 소양 성취도 결과와 비교하였다 . 연구 결과 , PISA 2006 에 비해 2008 년도 고등학교 1 학년들의 과학적 소양 성취도 수준은 하락한 것으로 고찰되었다 . 또한 남학생들에 비해 여학생들의 과학적 소양 성취도는 감소되었다 . 과학적 소양 평가틀에 따라 , 과학적 맥락 측면에서는 지구촌 차원의 성취도 수준은 증가한 반면 , 개인적 차원의 성취도는 감소하였다 . 과학 능력 차원에서는 과학적 문제 찾기 영역과 과학적 증거를 이용하기 영역의 성취도도 감소하였다 . 과학 지식 측면에서는 지구 ? 우주계에 대한 이해 수준은 증가한 반면 생물계에 대한 이해 수준은 감소하였다 . 연구결과에 근거하여 , 여학생들이 선호하는 교육내용 및 학습활동 , 실생활에 연계되며 , 과학적 문제 찾기와 과학적 증거 이용하기를 강조하는 과학 탐구활동 , 생물계 영역의 교육내용에 대한 이해를 증진시키는 과학교육 정책이 수립되어야 할 것이다 .

  The study aimed to investigate the trends in scientific literacy achievement after PISA 2006 results. For this end, a scientific literacy test was developed using public released six items from PISA 2006 test and was administered to 1,409 students at age of 15 from 41 high schools nationwide. The scores of 2008 test was analyzed by comparing to those of PISA 2006. It was found that students in 2008 scored lower in the test than those in PISA 2006. In 2008 scientific literacy achievement by girls was lower than boys, whereas vis versa was true in PISA 2006. According to PISA 2006 framework for scientific literacy, for the domain of scientific contexts, scores by students in 2008 decreased from PISA 2006, in particular personal level, although scores of items related to global level was increased. For the domain of scientific competencies, scores of items related to 'identifying scientific issues', and 'using scientific evidence' were decreased in 2008 from 2006. For the domain of scientific knowledge, scores of items related to living system were decreased while earth and space system were increased. In conclusion, effective policies of science education should be strengthened in terms of girls preferred, real life relevant, scientific inquiry process, and contents of living system.
